About

Alan Wake: The Signal, released in 2010 as a DLC for the base game, continues the mysterious journey of writer Alan Wake. This standalone episode offers a mix of psychological horror and action, maintaining the series’ atmospheric storytelling while adding intriguing gameplay elements. Its narrative-driven approach and unique blend of survival mechanics make it a notable addition to the survival horror genre.

For those looking to run Alan Wake: The Signal, the game is relatively accessible when it comes to hardware requirements. With a minimum GPU requirement equivalent to an entry-level GPU (around 600 score) and only 2 GB of RAM needed, players can expect decent FPS even on modest setups. With optimal graphics settings, a mid-range GPU can provide smooth performance, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the game's captivating visuals and eerie ambiance.

Given its 75/100 rating and the depth of its story, Alan Wake: The Signal is definitely worth playing, especially for fans of psychological horror. Its engaging gameplay and memorable atmosphere make it a solid choice for those who appreciate well-crafted narratives in gaming.

Performance profile

October 2010 release. Alan Wake: The Signal targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.

Extremely light — Alan Wake: The Signal runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Continuing on where the main game finished, Alan finds himself outside the diner in a nighttime Bright Falls, which quickly changes to daytime. Entering the diner, a surreal déjà-vu dream of the events plays out similar to when Alan first arrived, with everything eerily familiar but out of place. Alan cannot remember where he was before this moment but knows he must go to the back of the diner, which he forcibly enters. Zane talks to Alan and warns him that he should go no further and that Alan must focus. Zane plays a video of Alan struggling with reality and even tells of events playing out when Alan realises where he is: The Dark Place.
