About

Atrium, released in 2019, is an indie strategy game set in a critical moment during the decline of the Western Roman Empire. Players engage in tactical decision-making within the confines of the ATRIUM, a lavishly designed room that once hosted the Patricians. The game’s unique premise combines historical context with strategic gameplay, allowing players to immerse themselves in a rich narrative experience while commanding resources and making crucial choices.

For gamers looking to run Atrium, the requirements are quite accessible, making it a fantastic option for those with entry-level hardware. The game can run smoothly on GPUs scoring around 96 or higher, ensuring a solid FPS experience even with basic graphics settings. With a minimum of 4 GB RAM needed, players can expect stable performance without the need for high-end components, making it an ideal benchmark for lower-tier systems.

If you enjoy strategy games with historical narratives and are searching for something innovative in the indie scene, Atrium is worth your time. Its engaging gameplay and relatively low hardware demands make it an inviting choice for players seeking both a challenge and a glimpse into a pivotal moment in history.

Performance profile

July 2019 release. Atrium was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.

As a strategy title, Atrium is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Extremely light — Atrium runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

The Western Roman Empire is in decline. The Patricians fled, and for a brief moment, silence reigns in the ATRIUM. This room where they use to gather and feast was specially designed to play a strategy game. A game inspired by the construction of Theodosian walls featuring cities similar to later European castles. it's at this moment before the sac of Rome and in this symbolic place that the period of the Middle Ages begins. The purpose of the game is to control the biggest empire. You will need to build castles and establish trade routes or steal other players hard work. This builder placement game allows you to evolve your builders. Choose your strategy using the 8 different builder classes, to make a powerful army or train mages and win with cunning. Multiplayer up to 4 players on the same computer.
