About

To enjoy Back*space smoothly, a mid-range GPU like the RTX 4060 or RX 7600 is recommended. This level of hardware ensures that you'll experience the game at a good frame rate and with decent visual fidelity. While it doesn't push the limits of modern graphics technology, the game benefits from a capable GPU to render its unique environments effectively.

For those with lower-end setups, you might be able to run it on integrated graphics, but expect significant compromises in terms of resolution and frame rates. At 1080p with settings adjusted to medium or low, the mid-range GPUs will provide a satisfactory experience, while higher-end models can easily handle 1440p or even 4K with higher settings. Overall, the game is accessible, making it a solid choice for casual gamers with a decent gaming rig. If you're looking for a blend of intriguing gameplay and visual engagement, this title is worth considering.

Performance profile

April 2026 release. As a current-generation title, Back*space pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

Simulation titles like Back*space are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

High-end requirement. Back*space needs an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7800 XT for comfortable 1440p 60 FPS at High settings. 4K Ultra 60 FPS is flagship territory — RTX 4080 Super / RX 7900 XTX minimum without upscaling.

Storyline

BACK*SPACE is a liminal space exploration game inspired by many of our favorite takes of liminal space; dead malls, strange corridors, and abandoned places, analog nostalgia. I love liminal spaces myself, and so decided to create the game I wanted to play. What I love about these spaces is the idea of being alone in the unknown, lost in these strange, surreal rooms, and just being free to explore. I hope to have created rooms that are confusing enough to feel vaguely lost, but not so mazelike so as to feel like a penance. This game has no monsters, no action, no time limit, no intensity, it is intended very much to be a smooth, (mostly) quiet exploration, so action adventurers will not find that kind of satisfaction in this game. at all.
