About

BoxRunner, released in 2014, is an indie arcade game that brings a nostalgic twist to classic gameplay. Players take on the role of a character alongside their robotic companion, Mr. Doo-Dad, racing against the clock to open as many boxes as possible before the robot's battery depletes. This unique premise combines engaging time management with simple yet addictive mechanics, making BoxRunner notable for both casual and competitive players.

When it comes to performance, BoxRunner is designed to be accessible, requiring a minimum of an entry-level GPU with a score of around 300. It runs smoothly on systems with at least 4 GB of RAM, making it easy for many players to achieve playable FPS rates without high-end hardware. For optimal performance, players can expect to enjoy good frame rates on low to mid-range GPUs, allowing for an enjoyable gaming experience without the need for ultra settings.

If you're seeking a charming and engaging indie title that offers a unique challenge, BoxRunner is worth your time. Its straightforward concept and enjoyable gameplay make it a great choice for fans of arcade-style games, and it's likely to provide a satisfying experience for gamers of all skill levels.

Performance profile

Released in October 2014, BoxRunner sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.

Indie and casual titles are typically light on hardware. BoxRunner runs well on almost any modern GPU, including integrated graphics on recent laptops — you won't need a dedicated card for a smooth experience.

Extremely light — BoxRunner runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Box Runner is a game for all ages; with no bullets, no bombs, no bazookas, and no bad guys, it is a classic style arcade game that challenges you and your trusty robot 'Mr. Doo-Dad' against the clock. Boxes come in three sizes; small, medium and large. With each box size holding a little more than the last. Each box can contain a random number of Gold Coins (10 points), Gems (50 points), or very rare Time Extensions (15 seconds). Each round provides over hundreds of randomly placed boxes across the virtual world that you and Mr. Doo-Dad can race against time. How many boxes can you and Mr. Doo-Dad open before time runs out? Good Luck!
