About

"Dead or Alive 2," released in 1999, is a renowned fighting game that has made a lasting impact on the genre. Building upon the foundations of the Virtua Fighter series, DOA2 introduces a unique combat system centered around a circular relationship of moves, allowing for fluid and dynamic gameplay. Its iconic characters and vibrant graphics set it apart, further solidifying its place in the gaming community.

In terms of PC performance, "Dead or Alive 2" is quite accessible to gamers with modest hardware. To achieve smooth FPS, players should equip at least an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 686. The game's low requirement for RAM—just 2 GB—means that even older systems can handle it effectively, making it a great choice for casual gamers looking for decent benchmark results without needing the latest graphics technology.

Ultimately, if you appreciate fighting games with a mix of strategy and style, "Dead or Alive 2" is worth trying. With a rating of 76/100, it may not be perfect, but its engaging gameplay and historical significance in the fighting game genre make it a noteworthy addition to any gaming library.

Performance profile

Released in October 1999, Dead or Alive 2 predates modern GPU acceleration as we know it today. It runs effortlessly on virtually any current hardware, including integrated graphics and entry-level laptops — framerate is limited by the engine, not the GPU.

Extremely light — Dead or Alive 2 runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Fame Douglas, founder and CEO of DOATEC was killed at the end of the 20th century. He was renowned as the sponsor of the legendary Dead or Alive World Combat Championship. After his death, the world began to become chaotic. In the middle of the chaos, it was announced that the second Dead or Alive World Combat Championship will be held. The purpose and significance of the tournament changed after Douglas' death. The promoter of the second Dead or Alive Championship, who is fond of conflicts and jealous of the strong, is responsible for Douglas's death. The new promoter, Victor Donovan, is more than a corrupt mastermind, but a man of pure evil. His involvement in the tournament began to bring a sense of terror to the world, resulting in the infamous tengu disaster.
