About

"Dead or Alive 4," released in 2005, is a well-regarded entry in the iconic fighting game series known for its fast-paced action and stunning visuals. This title continues the story from "Dead or Alive 3," featuring 22 playable characters and a variety of multi-tiered, interactive arenas that enhance combat strategies. With its updated move lists and character rosters, DOA4 offers a blend of accessibility and depth, making it a notable title in the genre.

In terms of PC performance, "Dead or Alive 4" is relatively accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 686 for smooth gameplay. Players can expect solid FPS performance with modest hardware, as the game can run well on systems with at least 2 GB of RAM. For optimal graphics settings and frame rates, a mid-range GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 or equivalent should provide an enjoyable experience without straining resources.

Considering its 82/100 rating and engaging gameplay, "Dead or Alive 4" remains a worthwhile choice for fans of the fighting genre. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the series, this title's accessibility and competitive edge make it a worthy addition to any PC gaming library.

Performance profile

Released in December 2005, Dead or Alive 4 comes from the DirectX 9 era. Even the cheapest modern discrete GPU crushes it at maxed-out settings; the only real bottleneck today is CPU single-thread speed on older titles that were never multi-threaded.

Extremely light — Dead or Alive 4 runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Dead or Alive 4 focuses on the story of Helena Douglas taking over the mantle of the Dead or Alive Tournament Executive Committee as its second chairman, determined to fight against the corruption in the organization. After losing both her father and her beloved mother to the darkness of conspiracy, Helena chose to place herself in the middle of the maelstrom in order to put an end to the chain of tragedy once and for all. The man who holds the true power at Doatec, Victor Donovan, locked himself in the Bio Lab Core again to continue coveting his dream of creating the perfect human weapon. His new project, code named "Alpha-152", is the result of the ultimate evolution of hyper-cloning technology, birthed from a DNA sample of Kasumi. The main storyline continues with the war between the Doatec and the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan. After Ayane successfully defeats Doatec's last creation, Omega, Hayate returned to the Mugen Tenshin clan, taking over the leadership. Now leader, his heart burns with the desire of revenge as he goes on a quest to put an end to Doatec. During the fourth tournament, Hayate brought together the most powerful group of Ninjas known to man. He is accompanied by Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa, and other members of the Mugen Tenshin clan; Kasumi, though reluctant, is dragged into the events herself as she follows her brother.
