About

Fatal Fury Special, released in 1993, is a classic fighting game that brings together 15 iconic characters from the Fatal Fury series for an epic showdown. Players can take control of beloved fighters, including the resurrected Geese Howard and Wolfgang Krauser, in vibrant arenas. Its notable gameplay mechanics and character variety helped to solidify its place as a staple in the fighting game genre, often regarded as a precursor to many contemporary titles.

In terms of PC performance, Fatal Fury Special is quite accessible, allowing players to enjoy the game without needing high-end hardware. The minimum GPU requirement is an entry-level graphics card with a score of around 300, which makes it feasible for most modern systems. Even under modest settings, players can expect smooth FPS, making it a suitable choice for those seeking a nostalgic experience on lower-spec machines. Having just 1 GB of RAM further enhances its compatibility with a wide range of setups.

If you're a fan of classic fighting games or want to experience a significant piece of gaming history, Fatal Fury Special is worth playing. With a rating of 72/100, it offers enough engaging content and nostalgic charm to satisfy genre enthusiasts, making it a great addition to your gaming library.

Performance profile

Released in September 1993, Fatal Fury Special predates modern GPU acceleration as we know it today. It runs effortlessly on virtually any current hardware, including integrated graphics and entry-level laptops — framerate is limited by the engine, not the GPU.

Extremely light — Fatal Fury Special runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Geese Howard: a man feared by the world as the dark ruler of South Town. He shocked the land with his violent techniques and was confident that no one could ever top him. To rid himself of the man, Geese took the life the street champ, Jeff Bogard. However, several years later, three men arose to stop Geese's ambition. They were the sons of the dead Jeff, Terry and Andy Bogard, and Muai Thai champ, Joe Higashi. After Geese was defeated by them, he was believed to be dead. However, as time passed, a disturbing rumor began to float around the world. Geese is alive. His elder half-brother, Wolfgang Krauser, took the reigns of the underworld after his younger brother's passing. However, the resurrected Geese deprives Krauser his seat of glory and the Bogard brothers burn with the flames of revenge. Terry and Andy hear where Geese is located. "We're coming for you, Geese!" A new legend is about to begin.
