Performance profile
Released in December 1994, Mega Man X2 predates modern GPU acceleration as we know it today. It runs effortlessly on virtually any current hardware, including integrated graphics and entry-level laptops — framerate is limited by the engine, not the GPU.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Mega Man X2; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
Six months after the rebellion of Sigma, the most powerful repliloid in history. The number of irregulars, which had once seemed to have decreased, continued to increase, and irregular hunter bases were being destroyed in various locations. The irregulars that were causing these incidents had special control chips implanted in them, and the "Σ" mark, which was supposed to have been destroyed, was engraved on the chips.
