About

Silent Hill: Origins, released in 2007, is the fifth installment in the iconic Silent Hill survival horror series and serves as a prequel to the original game. This title continues the series' tradition of psychological horror, allowing players to wander between nightmarish and reality-based versions of the haunting town. With its rich storytelling and unsettling atmosphere, it stands out as a significant entry in the franchise.

When it comes to PC performance, Silent Hill: Origins is quite accessible thanks to its minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card, which means you can enjoy decent FPS on modest hardware. Players with GPUs scoring approximately 300 or higher should be able to run the game smoothly, making it a great choice for those with budget setups looking for a chilling experience. Adjusting the graphics settings can help further enhance performance, ensuring that players find an optimal balance between visuals and smooth gameplay.

If you're a fan of survival horror and appreciate a well-crafted story, Silent Hill: Origins is worth your time, especially with its solid rating of 74/100. The game's eerie atmosphere and psychological themes can provide a rewarding experience for those ready to navigate its nightmarish world.

Performance profile

November 2007 release. Silent Hill: Origins targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.

Extremely light — Silent Hill: Origins runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Silent Hill: Origins takes place several years before the events of the first game. Travis Grady, a trucker who suffers from visions that are somehow familiar to him, is running late for a delivery one night. He decides to make up for lost time by taking a detour through Silent Hill on his way to Brahms. On the outskirts of Silent Hill, a cloaked figure darts into the road in front of him. Travis slams on the brakes and exits his truck to check on their condition, without know where he is putting himself.
