About

Split or Steal, released in 2020, is a unique casual simulation game that explores the intriguing dynamics of trust and betrayal between players. In this free-to-play title, players must cooperate or compete with a stranger to either split or steal a virtual fortune, creating an engaging and often intense gaming experience that keeps you on your toes.

When it comes to PC performance, Split or Steal is quite accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a score of around 300 for decent gameplay. With a minimum RAM requirement of 2 GB, players can expect smooth performance on more modest systems. Gamers looking to achieve solid FPS should consider GPUs from lower-tier options, ensuring that even budget setups can enjoy this title without significant graphic settings compromises.

If you're a fan of casual games that stimulate social interaction and strategy, then Split or Steal is definitely worth playing. With its engaging mechanics and collaborative yet competitive elements, it offers a fresh take on multiplayer experiences, making it a fun addition to your gaming library.

Performance profile

Released in January 2020, Split or Steal targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

Simulation titles like Split or Steal are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Extremely light — Split or Steal runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Split or Steal is a light re-imagining of the Game Theory concept of The Prisoner's Dilemma. Two players will be selected from a pool of online users, and are presented with a potential reward. The players are given a maximum of 2 minutes to speak with eachother – at which point, they can then choose to either share, or attempt to steal the reward. Earn an honest fortune, or steal your way to success - then spend your winnings on building a Headquarters to amplify your earnings in an idle/incremental-style fashion, running heists against those who wronged you, or just buying one of over 140 different cosmetics to show off in-game with. And, if you don't manage to alienate people by stealing from the entire planet, take advantage of the shared wealth and bonuses offered by joining an Organization!
