About
The Godfather II, released in 2009, is an action-adventure game that immerses players in the world of organized crime, following the rise to power of a mob family. Players are tasked with expanding their territory across cities while managing their empire through strategic gameplay, including the innovative "Don's View" meta-game. This blend of action, strategy, and narrative makes The Godfather II a notable entry in the genre.
In terms of PC performance, The Godfather II isn't particularly demanding, making it accessible to a broad range of hardware. To achieve smooth gameplay and decent FPS, players can run the game with an entry-level GPU that scores around 103 or higher. A minimum of 1GB of RAM is required, and for those looking to play at higher graphics settings, a mid-range GPU can provide a better overall experience, especially in more intense scenes.
With a rating of 70/100, The Godfather II may appeal to fans of the genre and franchise, especially those who enjoy open-world gameplay and strategy elements. While it may not be a groundbreaking title, its engaging story and mechanics offer an entertaining experience for players willing to step into the shoes of a mafioso.
Performance profile
April 2009 release. The Godfather II targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.
Extremely light — The Godfather II runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
In 1958, three years after the events of the first game, elderly mobster Hyman Roth calls a meeting with the Corleone, Granados, Mangano, and Almeida families in Havana to discuss their future Cuban business prospects under the cooperative government of Fulgencio Batista. Roth announces his intentions to have his businesses divided between the four families once he retires. However, the guests become caught in the ongoing Cuban Revolution, and Corleone underboss Aldo Trapani is killed during the chaos. Don Michael Corleone, his brother Fredo, and Trapani's second-in-command, Dominic , manage to escape aboard a private plane, and Michael appoints Dominic as his new underboss, placing him in charge of the family's businesses in New York City.
