About

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, released in 2009, is a linear third-person shooter that allows players to step into the shoes of iconic characters from the Transformers franchise. The game is set a few years after the defeat of Megatron, featuring both Autobot and Decepticon factions. While its rating sits at 69/100, it captivates fans with its action-packed gameplay and dynamic character switching.

For those looking to run Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen smoothly, accessibility is one of its strong suits. The minimum GPU requirement is an entry-level graphics card, with a score of around 235, making it suitable for a broad range of hardware. Players can expect reasonable FPS even on lower settings, but for an optimal experience, a mid-tier GPU paired with at least 1 GB of RAM will yield better performance and enhanced graphics settings.

While the game's rating may not place it among the classics, it offers a unique experience for fans of the franchise and those who appreciate third-person shooters. If you enjoy action-packed gameplay and are a Transformers enthusiast, this title is worth a try despite its mixed reviews.

Performance profile

June 2009 release. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.

Extremely light — Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

The storyline is told via cutscenes that also allow for the player to easily transition from one character to the other. Playable characters on the Autobot side include: Optimus Prime, Iron Hide, Jetfire, Bumblebee. The Decepticon side includes: Starscream, Sideways (a new character), and Megatron. Though the game doesn’t allow transform wherever the player wants to, transformation has been introduced as special attacks during robot mode, as fixed alternate game modes (driving Shanghai tunnels as Sideways, and fly through the skies of Russia as Starscream) and, in both robot and vehicle modes, as special moves that give the player alternate abilities. For example, transforming as Starscream while flying will enable him to fly backwards as a robot to take out enemies behind the protagonist. For multiplayer, at any point during a single-player campaign a friend can join in as a "Remote Weapon System", which allows them to shoot enemies, erect a shield to defend and transfer energon between both players.
