About

Vampire Therapist is a 2024 indie simulation game that puts you in the role of a therapist treating vampire patients through their centuries of emotional trauma and psychological struggles. The game uniquely blends real cognitive behavioral therapy concepts with darkly humorous storytelling, making it a genuinely creative take on the simulation genre that's earned a stellar 93/100 rating.

Vampire Therapist is an extremely accessible game that won't stress your hardware. With only 8 GB RAM minimum and modest graphics requirements, you can expect smooth FPS performance on integrated graphics or entry-level GPUs from the last several generations. The game's 2D art style and indie scope mean you'll see consistently high frame rates even on budget builds, making it ideal for benchmarking on lower-tier systems or as a relaxing title that won't impact performance-heavy gaming sessions.

If you enjoy narrative-driven simulations with witty writing and unconventional premises, Vampire Therapist is absolutely worth playing. Its excellent critical reception combined with accessible performance requirements makes it a perfect fit for players seeking something different without demanding premium gaming hardware.

Performance profile

July 2024 release. As a current-generation title, Vampire Therapist pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

Simulation titles like Vampire Therapist are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Extremely light — Vampire Therapist runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Vampire Therapist is a narrative adventure in the vein (get it) of What We Do in the Shadows, the horror works of Mel Brooks, Monty Python, and Horrible Histories where you play as a reformed bloodsucker helping other vampires find inner peace. Take on the role of Sam, a former rootin’, tootin’ Wild West gunslinger who escaped his day-to-day of murder and mayhem and realized, after a hundred years or so, that there’s a whole lot more to unlife than blood, lace, and leather. Dragging himself from the quagmire of the Old West, Sam teams up with a 3000-year-old vampire living in Europe that’s willing to show him the therapy ropes.
