About

Alien Shooter is a top-down action shooter released in 2003 by Sigma Team that blends fast-paced combat with light RPG elements. The game puts you in an isometric perspective where you'll fight waves of aliens across numerous levels, with two expansions available that expand the campaign. It's a straightforward arcade-style experience that prioritizes action over story complexity.

Running Alien Shooter is extremely accessible on modern hardware—this is a lightweight title that will achieve high FPS counts even on modest GPU configurations. You can expect solid 60+ FPS performance on integrated graphics from the last decade, and budget GPUs will easily handle maximum graphics settings without any performance concerns. It's an ideal benchmark for testing lower-end gaming rigs or verifying baseline performance on older systems.

With a 71/100 rating, Alien Shooter offers decent arcade fun if you enjoy retro-style shooters and don't mind dated graphics. It's worth checking out during a sale if you appreciate classic indie action games, though it won't appeal to players seeking modern visuals or complex storytelling.

Performance profile

Released in September 2003, Alien Shooter comes from the DirectX 9 era. Even the cheapest modern discrete GPU crushes it at maxed-out settings; the only real bottleneck today is CPU single-thread speed on older titles that were never multi-threaded.

RPGs like Alien Shooter stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Extremely light — Alien Shooter runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

The player plays as a marine tasked to clear out an experimental laboratory where teleportation devices have allowed legions of aliens to pour into the world. The player has been given explosives to open up the sealed doors into these top secret areas; they had security measures in place so there will be stationery mini-gun turrets available to take them out. The government has given access to all the most advanced weaponry available in hopes of ridding the problem after receiving too many casualties of the previous military assault. A heavy burden is placed on one man.
