About

Baldur's Gate III (2023) is a critically acclaimed turn-based RPG set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, where your choices shape an epic story across the fantasy realm of Faerûn. This isn't a fast-paced action game—it's a deep, narrative-driven experience focused on exploration, dialogue, and strategic combat that can easily consume hundreds of hours depending on your playstyle and decisions.

The game scales well across different hardware configurations, making it reasonably accessible without requiring top-tier components. For stable 60+ FPS at high graphics settings, you'll want a modern GPU like an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT paired with a solid CPU. Lower-end systems can still enjoy the game at 1080p with medium settings and 30-45 FPS, while high-end GPUs enable 4K performance and maxed-out visuals. Checking detailed benchmark data before purchasing is worthwhile if you're on older hardware.

With a 96/100 rating and hundreds of hours of content, Baldur's Gate III is a must-play for RPG fans and anyone seeking a story-driven adventure. Whether you run it on modest settings or push every graphics option, the experience is genuinely excellent.

Performance profile

August 2023 release. As a current-generation title, Baldur's Gate III pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

As a strategy title, Baldur's Gate III is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Storyline

The land of Faerûn is in turmoil. Refugees cross the wilds, fleeing the helltorn stronghold of Elturel. A vicious cult marches across the Sword Coast, uniting every race of monsters and men under the banner of a cryptic god they call the Absolute. Chaos strikes at Faerûn's foundations, and none may escape its talons. Not even you. The grotesque nautiloid ship appears out of nowhere, blotting out the sun. Its writhing tentacles snatch you from where you stand. The mind flayers have come, imprisoning you on their ship, infecting you with their horrid parasite. You will become one of them. By fate or fortune, you survive when the nautiloid crashes in the Sword Coast outlands. You set out for civilisation, desperate for a cure for the parasite festering in your brain, only to take centre stage in a conspiracy that runs as deep as the Nine Hells. New enemies await. As for old foes... the shadows stir. And all roads lead to the legendary city of Baldur's Gate.
