About

BeatRider is an indie RPG released in 2024 that immerses players in the role of Mioi and her fellow apprentice Tuners as they explore Baixiang City. The game’s narrative unfolds through a gripping investigation that reveals a deeper layer of dissonance within the city, making it an intriguing choice for those who enjoy story-driven experiences. The combination of an engaging plot and unique RPG elements positions BeatRider as a notable title in the indie gaming landscape.

In terms of PC performance, BeatRider is quite accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 300 to run smoothly. Players can expect decent frame rates (FPS) even on modest hardware, with configurations featuring 2 GB of RAM comfortably supporting the game’s requirements. For optimal performance, pairing a low-tier graphics card with medium settings is advisable, ensuring a pleasant gaming experience without the need for high-end gear.

If you’re a fan of indie RPGs, BeatRider comes recommended due to its captivating narrative and solid gameplay mechanics. While the game may lack the high-budget polish of larger studios, its unique charm and engaging storyline make it worth playing for those looking to explore new worlds.

Performance profile

October 2024 release. As a current-generation title, BeatRider pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

RPGs like BeatRider stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Extremely light — BeatRider runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

This is a world where humans and the conscious beings known as Kururu coexist. The study of the essence and mechanisms of Kururu has not yet reached any conclusions that have achieved widespread consensus. However, it is generally agreed that it is a form of life that exists in harmony and resonance with all human mental and physiological rhythms, capable of interacting with humans during cognition, thought, or communication. Humans must maintain a benign balance with Kururu to ensure the stability of their sanity and cognitive abilities. However, only a very few humans can visually identify, physically perceive, and manipulate Kururu, and conduct systematic research on them. We call these individuals "Tuners." This summer, Mioi (barely) passed the professional exam and came to Baixiang City as an apprentice Tuner, along with Kasula and Syss. This is a coastal city with nearly two centuries of history but not much communication with the outside world, which, however, has attracted the attention of the Tuners Association in the past decade. As the routine tasks were carried out, this metropolis began to exhibit abnormalities, with phenomena of group dysregulation becoming increasingly common and severe. At the same time, two mysterious Tuners who had received special commissions also arrived in Baixiang City...
