About
Children of Zodiarcs, released in 2017, is a captivating single-player tactical RPG that blends traditional gameplay mechanics with the excitement of collectible cards and craftable dice. Drawing inspiration from classic titles like Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force, the game offers a unique storytelling experience that immerses players in its vibrant world. Its combination of strategic depth and creative gameplay elements sets it apart from other indie RPGs.
When it comes to performance, Children of Zodiarcs is quite accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 1052 to run smoothly. With just 2 GB of RAM, it can deliver a satisfying experience across a range of hardware configurations. Players can expect solid FPS performance on mid-tier GPUs, making it easy to achieve enjoyable graphics settings without needing cutting-edge hardware.
If you're a fan of indie RPGs and tactical strategy games, Children of Zodiarcs is definitely worth exploring, especially given its 80/100 rating. Its innovative blend of card mechanics and tactical combat makes it a refreshing option for both newcomers and seasoned players alike.
Performance profile
July 2017 release. Children of Zodiarcs was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
As a strategy title, Children of Zodiarcs is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Extremely light — Children of Zodiarcs runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
At the heart of an evil empire, a group of young outsiders rebel against the corrupt system that holds them down. Professional thieves on the trail of an ancient relic, the group infiltrates the glittering halls of a corrupt noble’s private chambers in pursuit of their target, narrowly escaping the wrath of the city guards at every turn. Desperate to find an escape, they seek refuge in the city’s seamy slums and brave the sunless pits of the underworld. Out to get them are heavily armed city guards, rival gangs and psychotic families of subterranean cannibals. Abandoned by the system and used by selfish criminals, these young companions will be forced to come to terms with their own reality. But be warned - in the world of Children of Zodiarcs, no one escapes unscathed!
