About
To enjoy Comet Tycoon without any hiccups, an entry-level GPU like the GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT is sufficient for running the game at lower settings. With these graphics cards, players can expect smooth gameplay at 1080p resolution, especially if they stick to medium settings. The game is designed to be accessible, making it a great choice for those with basic gaming rigs who are looking for a casual experience.
For a more enhanced visual experience, consider mid-range options such as the GTX 1660 Super or RX 6600. These GPUs will allow you to crank up the settings to high at 1080p or even push 1440p if you want a crisper image. Overall, the game is not demanding and should run well on a variety of systems, making it a solid pick for both casual gamers and those looking to delve into a unique tycoon simulation. If you're equipped with at least the minimum specs, you should have no problem building your cosmic empire.
Performance profile
March 2026 release. As a current-generation title, Comet Tycoon pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.
As a strategy title, Comet Tycoon is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Mid-range territory. An RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT delivers 60 FPS at 1080p High in Comet Tycoon. For 1440p Ultra you'll want an RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT; 4K Ultra needs an RTX 4070 Ti or faster.
Storyline
As a freelance Prospector, you’ve chosen COMTEC to supply you with what you need. COMTEC, the galaxy’s #1 comet-coloniser. Your goal? To pick a comet, extract its resources and build a destination for tourists. Grow your humble industrial site into a self-sustaining floating rock of entertainment. All the while, keeping your guests alive and spending their creds. Land on procedurally generated comets, categorised from Trash to Exotic. Harvest raw materials, process them into valuable products, and keep your production chains running and your workers alive. Keeping visitors alive, optional. As word spreads of your comet, space tourists and those just passing by may land; seeking shelter, snacks, or perhaps just a place to breathe. Build facilities to keep them alive (while they have creds). Entertain them with facilities like The Arquaid, or satisfy their hunger at your Noodle Joint, or perhaps they desperately need your Oxygen Bar. Careful though, is there enough for your own workers? Or yourself? Hire workers to haul your goods around for you and when your bottom line calls, replace them entirely with cold, efficient drones. Who needs food and sleep cycles when you have power and steel servos? Out of oxygen, food, or water? COMTEC offers recycling solution for the guest. Convert them into raw materials and process them into Soylent Peep, COMTEC's patented smoothie. A controversial (but effective!) food source. Don’t worry — the paperwork’s already been filed. When your current rock has been tapped dry, use your earnings to move on to the next. Higher-tier comets bring more resources, more space and surging crowds of visitors demanding more from you. Who really pays attention to rumours of guests going missing anyway?
