About

Dark Flame, released in 2023, is a captivating casual 2D action role-playing game (ARPG) that pays homage to retro classics. Players take on the role of a knight tasked with battling an encroaching evil that has plagued his order. What sets Dark Flame apart is its beautifully crafted environments and the blend of classic gameplay with innovative mechanics, providing a nostalgic yet fresh gaming experience.

For PC gamers looking to run Dark Flame smoothly, the game is designed to be accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of approximately 300 to achieve decent FPS. Systems with at least 4 GB of RAM will comfortably handle the game's graphics settings, making it an appealing option for players with budget-friendly setups. Players can expect solid performance on mid-range GPUs, allowing for a balanced mix of graphics quality and frame rate.

If you enjoy casual gaming experiences and appreciate the charm of retro-inspired titles, Dark Flame is definitely worth trying out. With its engaging gameplay and favorable reception, it promises to deliver a fulfilling adventure that won't tax your hardware, making it a great pick for both new and veteran gamers alike.

Performance profile

Indie and casual titles are typically light on hardware. Dark Flame runs well on almost any modern GPU, including integrated graphics on recent laptops — you won't need a dedicated card for a smooth experience.

Extremely light — Dark Flame runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

"For centuries, humanity's greatest willed champions, the Keepers of the Flame, have been tasked with containing the Dark Flame, an entity of unknown origins and purpose. Since its discovery, The Dark Flame has poisoned the souls of weak-minded humans, causing instant violent reactions and sacrificial behavior. The unearthing of ancient texts gave humanity the tools, technology, and rituals to restrain the Dark Flame; mankind finally had the chance to protect themselves from the assumed destruction, and the Dark Flame was kept secret from all but the elite tier of Crusaders and the Church over the course of countless generations. After a bright light flashes from the fortress guarding the flame, reports of brutal slaughters in the neighboring town have the people desperate for help. The Church responds by dispatching Taharial, a potential candidate for the Keepers of the Flame, to investigate and protect the townspeople. The mission is clear: Find the members of the Keepers of the Flame, investigate the nature of the light flash, and save the townsfolk from the raiding monsters that have started appearing; the way, however, is not so well lit."
