About

Death End Re;Quest 2, released in 2020, is an action-adventure RPG that immerses players in a gripping horror narrative. Developed in collaboration with Makoto Kedouin, known for his work on Corpse Party, the game follows Mai Toyama's quest to find her sister in a mysterious lakeside town. As players explore by day and confront terrifying Shadow Matter by night, they must unravel the town's dark secrets, making it a game notable for its blend of engaging storytelling and survival mechanics.

When it comes to PC performance, Death End Re;Quest 2 is quite accessible, allowing a wide range of systems to run it effectively. The minimum GPU requirement is an entry-level graphics card, scoring around 131, making it suitable for low-end setups. Players can expect decent FPS, even on modest hardware, provided they stick to lower graphics settings, while a more powerful GPU will ensure a smoother experience at higher performance benchmarks.

If you’re a fan of RPGs with a horror twist, Death End Re;Quest 2 is worth your time, especially for its compelling story and unique mechanics. With a solid reception among players, its blend of action and adventure in a chilling atmosphere provides a captivating experience for those looking to dive into darker themes in gaming.

Performance profile

Released in August 2020, Death End Re;Quest 2 targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

RPGs like Death End Re;Quest 2 stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Extremely light — Death End Re;Quest 2 runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Mai Toyama seeks an escape from her traumatic past. She enrolls at Wordsworth, an all-girl’s dormitory situated in the small, mountainous town known as Le Choara where it was rumored that her sister, Sanae, was last seen. Hopeful, Mai seeks to find her kin, but she soon finds terrifying inhabitants which lurk throughout the town after dark. At night, Le Choara’s streets are filled with Shadow Matter—a horrific group of menacing creatures. Around every cobblestone corner, Mai discovers that her hope of finding her sister lies beneath the long-buried secrets which haunt Le Choara.
