About

Dota 2, released in 2013, is a highly renowned multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that serves as the standalone sequel to the Defense of the Ancients mod. This strategic game is notable for its deep gameplay mechanics, diverse roster of heroes, and a competitive scene that remains vibrant years after its release, attracting millions of players worldwide. Regular updates keep the game fresh, ensuring a continuously evolving experience for both newcomers and seasoned veterans.

In terms of performance, Dota 2 is relatively accessible, making it a great choice for a wide range of gamers. The minimum GPU requirement is an entry-level graphics card, achieving a benchmark score of around 180. For optimal performance, players should aim for a mid-tier GPU that can consistently deliver 60 FPS or higher with medium to high graphics settings, ensuring a smooth and immersive gaming experience without heavy hardware demands.

With a solid rating of 79/100 and its engaging MOBA focus, Dota 2 is definitely worth playing for fans of strategy games. The dynamic gameplay and competitive environment offer both thrilling challenges and rewarding teamwork for players seeking an exciting gaming experience.

Performance profile

Released in July 2013, Dota 2 sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.

As a strategy title, Dota 2 is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Extremely light — Dota 2 runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Each match of Dota 2 involves two teams, both containing five players and occupying a fortified stronghold at either end of the map. Victory is achieved by destroying the enemy's Ancient, a building that is invulnerable until certain objectives are achieved. Each player controls a "Hero" character and focuses on leveling up, acquiring items and fighting against the other team to achieve victory during each match. The previous match has no connection with the next match. All heroes are playable as in you do not have to "purchase/unlock" heroes to play them. The game development team try their best at balancing the heroes so that all heroes can be played in any match
