About

Exoplanet: First Contact, released in 2016, is an indie action-RPG that immerses players in a captivating space western universe. You assume the role of Jack Sharp, a resourceful adventurer navigating the rugged and perilous terrain of the planet K'Tharsis. The game is notable for its engaging storytelling and unique blend of real and fictional technologies, paired with the romantic yet harsh realities of Wild West exploration.

In terms of PC performance, Exoplanet: First Contact is relatively accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 5248 and a CPU score of roughly 559. Players will find that with at least 8 GB of RAM, the game runs smoothly, offering respectable FPS even on mid-tier systems. For optimal performance and graphics settings, GPUs such as the NVIDIA GTX 750 or AMD Radeon R7 260X are good choices to elevate your gameplay experience.

With a solid rating of 80/100, Exoplanet: First Contact is well-regarded in the indie RPG space, making it a worthy addition to any gamer's library. If you appreciate story-driven games with a blend of action and exploration, this title should not be missed.

Performance profile

Released in December 2016, Exoplanet: First Contact sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.

RPGs like Exoplanet: First Contact stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Exoplanet: First Contact; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

You are playing as Jack Sharp, a daring adventurer, stranded against his will on a dangerous, wild planet known as K'Tharsis. Before Mister Sharp landed on the K’Tharsis, he was a proud owner of a hunk-a-junk private spaceship, the small freighter that he loved more than his life. His spaceship was both his home and the manifestation of freedom to Jack. In the prologue of our story this most precious thing was taken from him by force. Delivering suspicious "geologists" with military implants (ha!) and their equipment to a smugglers landing on the remote planet was quite risky, but the call of "easy money" could not be easily resisted in Jack's financial situation. Once he had fulfilled his part of the deal, the treacherous employer shot Jack in the back and dumped him from the ramp of his "Beth" like a sack of trash. Now Jack is stranded on K'Tharsis and wants “his flying baby” back. Bullets will be shot, teeth cracked and God knows what will happen, because Jack has become angrier and greedier than ever.
