About

Front Mission 1st: Remake, released in 2022, revitalizes the classic sci-fi turn-based strategy game, offering players a chance to command powerful Wanzers on the battlefield. This remake not only enhances the visuals but also maintains the deep tactical gameplay that fans remember. With its engaging story and strategic elements, it stands out in the strategy genre as a nostalgic yet refreshed title.

In terms of PC performance, Front Mission 1st: Remake is relatively accessible, with a minimum GPU requirement geared towards entry-level graphics cards, scoring around 554. Players will need at least a CPU score of 2858 and 4 GB of RAM to run the game smoothly. Those looking to achieve higher FPS benchmarks should consider mid-tier GPUs, which will allow for better graphics settings and an overall improved gameplay experience.

If you enjoy strategy games and appreciate a blend of classic mechanics with modern updates, Front Mission 1st: Remake is worth playing. Its solid ratings and engaging gameplay make it an excellent choice for both newcomers and veterans of the genre alike.

Performance profile

Released in November 2022, Front Mission 1st: Remake targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

As a strategy title, Front Mission 1st: Remake is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Extremely light — Front Mission 1st: Remake runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

In the year 2090, the world's conflicts are fought using giant war machines called Wanzers. Huffman Island, the only place where the Oceania Cooperative Union (O.C.U.) and the Unified Continental States (U.C.S.) share a land border is a hotbed of conflict. An O.C.U. reconnaissance platoon led by Captain Royd Clive is assigned to investigate a U.C.S. munitions plant. They are ambushed by U.C.S. Wanzers, triggering a series of events that plunges the whole island into war. Royd's fiancée, Lieutenant Karen Meure, goes missing in action. Discharged from the military, Royd sets out to investigate what happened to Karen. His quest leads him closer and closer to the conspiracy behind the incident and the powers that orchestrated it. With dozens of characters to meet, its mature story, and non-Manichean protagonists, Front Mission is the classic of a tactical Japanese RPG genre, finally available worldwide.
