About

Maneater (2020) is an action-adventure indie RPG that puts you in the role of a vengeful shark seeking survival and evolution in the Gulf Coast. The game blends exploration, combat, and progression mechanics as you consume prey, grow stronger, and unlock new abilities. Its dark humor and unique premise of playing as a predator rather than a hero set it apart from typical action games.

Running Maneater is quite accessible for most modern gaming setups. The minimum GPU requirement sits at entry-level performance with a score around 597, meaning even budget graphics cards can handle it. For solid FPS performance and better graphics settings, mid-range GPUs will deliver smooth gameplay at 1080p, while high-end cards easily push higher resolutions and framerates. You'll need at least 8 GB of RAM and a CPU scoring around 2703 to meet baseline requirements, making this a relatively light benchmark title for performance testing.

With a respectable 73/100 rating, Maneater offers an entertaining experience for action and RPG fans seeking something unconventional. If you enjoy quirky indie games with engaging mechanics and don't mind playing as the villain, it's worth exploring on any capable gaming rig.

Performance profile

Released in May 2020, Maneater targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

RPGs like Maneater stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Extremely light — Maneater runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
