About
Moons of Ardan, released in 2021, is an engaging city-building simulation game that transports players to a sprawling planetary system filled with moons to explore and develop. This early access title combines strategic elements with captivating graphics, allowing players to reconstruct and expand their civilizations in unique environments. Its emphasis on resource management and urban planning sets it apart in the genre, promising players a rich and immersive experience.
For those considering the performance requirements of Moons of Ardan, the game is more accessible than many others in the genre. With a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card producing a score of around 4100, players can expect playable frame rates (FPS) even on modest hardware. To achieve smoother gameplay and higher graphics settings, players should consider GPUs in the mid-tier range, such as the NVIDIA GTX 1650 or the AMD Radeon RX 550, depending on their preference.
Whether you’re a fan of strategy or simulation games, Moons of Ardan is certainly worth exploring, given its unique premise and early access status. With positive initial feedback and a growing community, this title presents an engaging opportunity for gamers looking to dive into the depths of cosmic city building.
Performance profile
Released in October 2021, Moons of Ardan targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
As a strategy title, Moons of Ardan is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Moons of Ardan; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
Moons of Ardan is a city-building and management game where you rebuild and expand your civilization across moons in a real-time simulated planetary system. You follow the Axonauts, the survivors of a generational ship that crashed on a lonely moon. In the crash, most of the technology that served them got lost. Help them restore their culture and reconnect with their homeworld by building a great wonder.
