About
Next Up Hero, released in 2018, is an action RPG that offers a unique twist on the genre by centering its gameplay around the concept of dying and leaving behind an Echo—a ghostly version of your character that other players can control. Set in a vibrant world filled with colorful monsters and chaotic combat, players must navigate challenging scenarios, often facing overwhelming odds. Each run presents an opportunity to improve strategies and adapt to the enemy behaviors, making every failure an intrinsic part of the gaming experience.
For gaming on PC, Next Up Hero is relatively accessible, with a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card and a CPU score of around 3205. Players looking to enjoy the game at higher frame rates (FPS) may want to consider GPUs that score at least 1173 or better, as these will significantly enhance performance while allowing for smooth gameplay. With just 8 GB of RAM, most mid-range systems should be capable of handling this title effectively at standard graphics settings.
Despite its 50/100 rating, Next Up Hero can be a fun experience for gamers who appreciate quirky mechanics and colorful graphics. If you enjoy action RPGs that emphasize cooperation and learning from setbacks, this title may still be worth a try, especially if you are interested in a more lighthearted gaming experience.
Performance profile
June 2018 release. Next Up Hero was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
RPGs like Next Up Hero stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.
Extremely light — Next Up Hero runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
