About
Planet Zoo (2019) is a detailed simulation and management game from the creators of Planet Coaster and Zoo Tycoon. You'll build intricate animal habitats, manage zoo operations, and interact with authentic living creatures that behave realistically within your custom environments. The game blends creative building with strategic management in a way that appeals to both simulation enthusiasts and casual players.
Planet Zoo is reasonably accessible for mid-range gaming PCs. You'll need at least an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 4875 and a CPU scoring approximately 2929, plus 8 GB of RAM minimum. For solid FPS performance and better graphics settings, a mid-range GPU will comfortably handle the game and deliver consistent frame rates even with larger, more detailed zoo layouts.
With a 76/100 rating, Planet Zoo offers satisfying gameplay for management and building game fans. If you enjoy tycoon-style games with creative freedom and a focus on animal behavior simulation, it's worth checking out—particularly if your PC meets or exceeds the recommended hardware benchmarks.
Performance profile
November 2019 release. Planet Zoo was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
As a strategy title, Planet Zoo is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Planet Zoo; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
