About

SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny, released in 2012, is an innovative blend of RPG and strategy that continues the beloved SpellForce series. This game introduces an all-new campaign filled with familiar characters and quests while adding a unique twist with a new race of demonic enemies that can be played in multiplayer mode. Players can ride dragons into battle and utilize new spells to broaden their tactical options, making for a rich and engaging gaming experience.

When it comes to PC performance, SpellForce 2 is relatively accessible. With a minimum GPU requirement like an entry-level graphics card providing a score of around 100, players can expect decent FPS even on modest hardware configurations. For smoother gameplay and higher graphics settings, a mid-tier GPU is recommended, allowing for more immersive visuals and better overall performance in battle scenarios.

Ultimately, whether you’re a fan of RPGs or strategy games, SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny is worth considering despite its 50/100 rating. If you enjoy rich world-building and tactical gameplay, this title could provide a unique experience that appeals to both casual and serious gamers alike.

Performance profile

June 2012 release. SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.

As a strategy title, SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.

Extremely light — SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Four years have passed since the Shaper's defeat through the use of Archfire. During that time scientists, dragons and inventors have tried to find a way to counter the mysterious deterioration of the portals - in vain. The portal network has now totally collapsed and the islands are cut off from one another. The dragons and the Shaikan act as the only connection between the races, but even their resources are limited. Now, with the nations isolated from one another, a new nameless enemy strikes. Eo is completely at the mercy of the attackers ascending from demonic depths. In the midst of this chaos a new hero appears. A simple Shaikan and a member of the hand, he searches desperately for answers to his deeply disturbing dreams. This search leads him to the ancestral home of his people, the Iron Fields, to the mountain of the Patriarch Ur. The elders can only tell him that his dreams are connected to his destiny, but nothing more. Upon arrival all he finds are more questions: Who are these demonic creatures the locals are calling the Nameless? What do the dragons know about the destiny of this world? And what has Professor Twiddles plan to restore the portals to do with all this? To discover his destiny, our hero must acquire new skills and do battle with enemies new and old. But wherever he goes - the Nameless always seem to be a step ahead, and futile battles break out in which the hero holds the destiny of all of Eo in his hands.
