About
The Infernal Return, released in 2022, offers an engaging blend of action, adventure, RPG, and strategy elements. Players step into the shoes of Koward, who must navigate the challenges of the netherworld, solving puzzles and completing quests to find his way back to life. This unique premise, coupled with its branching quests, sets it apart in the RPG genre and promises a captivating gameplay experience.
When it comes to PC performance, The Infernal Return is designed to be accessible to a wide range of hardware. With minimum GPU requirements starting at an entry-level score of around 181 and a CPU minimum score of approximately 154, even budget-friendly systems can run the game smoothly. For optimal FPS and performance, players are encouraged to consider GPUs within the entry-level to mid-range tiers, allowing for a decent experience with medium graphics settings.
If you're a fan of RPGs or puzzle-solving in a fantastical setting, The Infernal Return is worth your time. With positive ratings reflecting its engaging gameplay and story, this title offers both accessible performance for a variety of hardware and a rewarding adventure for players seeking immersive narratives.
Performance profile
Released in May 2022, The Infernal Return targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
As a strategy title, The Infernal Return is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Extremely light — The Infernal Return runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
Koward is a timid guy who doesn't dare reveal his feeling to his girlfriend Mangostina. In order to complete the indicators given by the king of hell Yama, the two hell messengers Black Wuchang and White Wuchang (Wuchang means impermanence in Chinese language) abducted Koward with an excuse and brought him to the underworld. Koward's spirit was then imprisoned within Fengdu Ghost City. To escape and resurrect, Koward needs to collect enough elements and meet all the necessary conditions. As Koward, the player will explore the netherworld and vibe with some ghosts and monsters and cheat the death Yama with fantastic tricks.
