About

"The Night Shift" (2025) is an immersive first-person horror game that blends action and adventure elements in a unique setting. Players find themselves trapped in a department store during a storm, armed only with a flashlight and tasked with survival. The game stands out for its original concept, where players must evade a malevolent presence that reacts to their gaze, creating an engaging and suspenseful gameplay experience that keeps players on edge.

In terms of PC performance, "The Night Shift" is surprisingly accessible for most gamers. With a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card (around a score of ~1759) and 8 GB of RAM, it allows a wide range of hardware to run the game satisfactorily. Players looking for smoother frame rates and higher graphics settings may consider mid-tier GPUs for better FPS, ensuring an even more immersive experience in this chilling adventure.

If you're a fan of horror RPGs and appreciate unique gameplay mechanics, "The Night Shift" is likely worth your time. With its innovative approach to fear and survival, this early access title is generating buzz and should appeal to those who enjoy engaging stories and gameplay in an indie setting.

Performance profile

August 2025 release. As a current-generation title, The Night Shift pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

RPGs like The Night Shift stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.

Extremely light — The Night Shift runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Congratulations! You have been accepted for a job at your local department store. A massive storm starts forming as you arrive for your first shift, before you can get settled, your manager gives you a list of tasks to complete before you can leave for the night. At the end of your first night, the storm rages on outside tripping the emergency shutters and trapping you at work. With no sign of help and nothing but your wits and your flashlight, you need to mark off all your tasks so you can at least get paid. However as each night passes, you feel something isn't right. Something is watching you... Whatever it is, it moves in the dark. Navigate through the spacious storefront, the claustrophobic service tunnels, and eerie employee-only rooms. Complete your tasks to make sure the store is looking perfect for when the store can reopen... and you can leave.
