About
Torchlight (2009) is an action RPG that puts you in control of a hero exploring procedurally-generated dungeons filled with enemies, loot, and equipment to collect. The game features randomized dungeon layouts that keep each playthrough fresh, along with a hub town where you can sell gear, buy supplies, and pick up new quests. As you delve deeper into the dungeons, you'll face unique bosses that drive the main storyline forward.
Torchlight is an extremely accessible title by modern standards, requiring just 1 GB of RAM and running smoothly on integrated graphics. You can expect solid FPS performance on virtually any GPU from the last decade, even at higher graphics settings. The game's isometric perspective and stylized visuals mean it's not demanding in terms of processing power, making it ideal for benchmark testing on older or budget hardware configurations.
With a 74/100 rating, Torchlight is a solid dungeon crawler that defined the ARPG genre on PC. If you enjoy loot-driven gameplay and don't mind older graphics, it's definitely worth experiencing.
Performance profile
October 2009 release. Torchlight targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.
RPGs like Torchlight stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.
Extremely light — Torchlight runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
