About
Balrum, released in 2016, is an engaging old-school hybrid RPG that combines adventure, strategy, and turn-based gameplay into a rich, open-world experience. Players embark on a journey through a vast fantasy realm, filled with side quests and an epic main storyline. The game also introduces unique elements such as farming, home-building, and crafting, which enhance its depth and replayability.
When it comes to PC performance, Balrum is quite accessible, making it suitable for a broad range of hardware configurations. With a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card boasting a score of around 65, even budget setups can achieve playable fps. Players can expect smooth performance on systems equipped with at least 1 GB RAM and a more capable GPU, allowing for decent graphics settings without straining their hardware.
With a solid rating of 70/100, Balrum is worth considering for fans of the RPG genre, especially those who appreciate tactical combat and exploration in a fantasy setting. Its blend of classic elements with modern gameplay mechanics fosters a nostalgic yet refreshing experience that many players will enjoy.
Performance profile
Released in February 2016, Balrum sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
As a strategy title, Balrum is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Extremely light — Balrum runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
