The game's 93/100 rating reflects its exceptional storytelling and immersive world design.
Running The Last of Us requires a modest hardware investment compared to modern AAA titles. You'll need at least 16 GB of RAM and an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 7924 to achieve playable performance at standard settings. Most mid-range graphics cards will deliver solid fps performance, making this benchmark an accessible target for testing older or budget GPU configurations during performance testing.
If you appreciate narrative-driven action games with strong character development, The Last of Us absolutely deserves a playthrough. Its combination of engaging combat mechanics and storytelling has made it a benchmark title for many PC gamers evaluating their system's capabilities.
Performance profile
Released in June 2013, The Last of Us sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
The Last of Us is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Mid-range territory. An RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT delivers 60 FPS at 1080p High in The Last of Us. For 1440p Ultra you'll want an RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT; 4K Ultra needs an RTX 4070 Ti or faster.
