About

Dave the Diver is a unique blend of action-adventure and management simulation that released in 2023 to critical acclaim. Players alternate between exploring vibrant underwater environments to catch fish and manage a sushi restaurant during the day and night cycle. This genre-blending approach combines real-time diving and combat with resource management mechanics, creating an engaging experience that appeals to both casual and hardcore gamers alike.

The game is notably accessible from a performance standpoint, making it an excellent benchmark title for budget builds. With minimum GPU requirements around entry-level specs, Dave the Diver will run smoothly on older hardware and integrated graphics, easily delivering solid FPS at standard settings. You'll see stable performance on most mid-range GPUs with minimal graphics adjustments needed, though higher-end systems can max out all settings while maintaining excellent frame rates across all resolutions.

With an 82/100 rating and its creative hybrid gameplay, Dave the Diver is absolutely worth playing regardless of your PC's performance tier. The combination of relaxing exploration and strategic management makes it engaging for players seeking something different from typical AAA titles.

Performance profile

June 2023 release. As a current-generation title, Dave the Diver pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.

Simulation titles like Dave the Diver are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Extremely light — Dave the Diver runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Former arms dealer Cobra discovers that every time he enters the Blue Hole, the ecology and terrain change, presenting a lucrative opportunity. He convinces the ever-optimistic Dave (the playable protagonist) and Bancho, a sushi chef specializing in rare sea creatures, to open a sushi restaurant nearby. While investigating the interior of the Blue Hole at the request of archaeologist Bacon, Dave finds that the descendants of ancient Sea People—who still live in the deep—are under threat. Realizing that this could be catastrophic not only for the hidden village but for the Earth itself, Dave dives deeper in search of a solution.
