About
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (2021) blends RPG storytelling with the Monster Hunter franchise in a turn-based adventure format. You play as a young Monster Rider who forms powerful bonds with creatures using a Kinship Stone, progressing through a rich narrative with charming characters and familiar monsters. The game offers a more accessible entry point to the Monster Hunter universe compared to the core action titles.
The game runs smoothly on modest hardware, making it one of the more accessible titles for older PC setups. An entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 3428 handles the game well, while minimum CPU requirements sit at approximately 3007. With just 4 GB RAM needed, you can achieve solid FPS performance on budget graphics settings, and the game scales nicely for better visual quality on mid-range cards without demanding high-end components.
With a respectable 79/100 rating, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is worth playing if you enjoy RPGs with creature-collecting mechanics and prefer story-driven adventures over fast-paced action. Genre fans will find the Monster Hunter lore engaging and the gameplay mechanics rewarding.
Performance profile
Released in July 2021, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
RPGs like Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin stress VRAM during long sessions — texture streaming, mods and open-world traversal inflate memory use over time. 8 GB VRAM is a practical floor; 12 GB+ is worth the headroom at 1440p and above.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
