About
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut is a standalone strategy RPG that blends turn-based tactical combat with a cyberpunk-fantasy setting. Originally released in 2014 by Harebrained Schemes, this indie adventure game expands on the acclaimed Dragonfall campaign with five new missions, alternate endings, and enhanced customization options. The game combines deep character progression with strategic squad-based gameplay that emphasizes planning and positioning over reflexes.
With a minimum requirement of just 2 GB RAM, Shadowrun: Dragonfall runs smoothly on modest hardware and isn't demanding by modern standards. Even budget GPUs from the last decade can handle this game at high FPS and graphics settings, making it an excellent benchmark title for testing older or integrated graphics. Most mid-range systems will achieve 60+ FPS without difficulty, and performance scales well across different PC configurations, so the game remains accessible regardless of your GPU tier.
At 85/100, Shadowrun: Dragonfall deserves a playthrough if you enjoy tactical RPGs with branching narratives and strategic depth. The Director's Cut edition represents the definitive version with substantial improvements and additional content that enhance the overall experience.
Performance profile
Released in September 2014, Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut sits in the DirectX 11 generation. Comfortable on any modern mid-range GPU at 1440p; even an RTX 3050 or RX 6600 typically delivers 4K60 at High settings.
As a strategy title, Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut is typically CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound — single-thread CPU performance dictates framerate during large-scale battles, end-game saves and late-game AI turns. A fast modern 6-core will help more than a GPU upgrade.
Extremely light — Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
Man Meets Magic & Machine. In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany, unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they did, their victory became known as The Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later - 2054 - and the world has changed. Unchecked advances in technology have blurred the line between man and machine. Elves and trolls walk among us, ruthless corporations bleed the world dry, and Feuerschwinge’s reign of terror is just a distant memory. Germany is splintered - a stable anarchy known as the “Flux State” controls the city of Berlin. It’s a place where power is ephemeral, almost anything goes, and the right connections can be the difference between success and starvation. For you and your team of battle-scarred shadowrunners, there’s no better place to earn a quick payday. Now, a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…
