About
Ancient Mind, released in 2024, is an engaging adventure puzzle game that captures the essence of classic top-down action RPGs, reminiscent of the Zelda series. Set in a mysterious world filled with dungeons, monsters, and ancient lore, players navigate through challenging puzzles while uncovering timeless secrets. Its charming graphics and innovative gameplay set it apart as a notable entry in the indie genre, inviting players to immerse themselves in its captivating narrative.
For optimal performance, Ancient Mind requires only an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score of around 597, making the game quite accessible to a broad range of players. Those looking to achieve smooth gameplay should consider systems with at least 1 GB of RAM and entry-tier graphics cards like the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 or AMD Radeon RX 550. Players can expect decent FPS at lower graphics settings, ensuring a fluid gaming experience even on modest hardware.
If you enjoy adventure and puzzle games with a nostalgic flair, Ancient Mind is definitely worth a play. The game's unique blend of challenges and storytelling, along with its favorable performance requirements, makes it an appealing choice for both casual gamers and hardcore fans of the genre.
Performance profile
November 2024 release. As a current-generation title, Ancient Mind pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.
Ancient Mind is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Extremely light — Ancient Mind runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
Long ago, the region of Carduelis was divided into six kingdoms, each ruled by a king. The kingdoms, despite not being openly at war, were often at odds with each other. However, their long-standing conflicts were put on hold when an unknown threat came from the sea. The six kings realised that they needed to put their differences aside to fight the people of the sea, forming the first and only hexarchy of history. For many days, the battle raged on, but its outcome is still unknown, since the kingdoms seem to have disappeared into nowhere soon after. Historical records of the time tell of how the two peoples fought, but nothing has ever been found from the later period. Due to its harsh territory, the region of Carduelis has been uninhabited since then. Of the six kingdoms nothing remains but ruins. Many questions remain unanswered about what happened to the kingdoms and how they disappeared without a trace. In recent times, many have ventured into the region in search of answers, but without success. Despite this, the mystery continues to attract the curiosity of the inhabitants of the neighbouring regions.
