About
Apex Legends (2019) is a free-to-play hero shooter that blends fast-paced action with tactical squad gameplay. You pick from a roster of diverse characters called Legends, each with unique abilities, then drop into battle royale matches where teamwork and positioning matter as much as aim. It's distinguished itself in the crowded hero shooter space through smooth gunplay, innovative mechanics, and regular content updates that keep the competitive scene alive.
Running Apex Legends doesn't require cutting-edge hardware, making it accessible to most PC gamers. Entry-level GPUs with benchmark scores around 3090 can handle it, while CPUs scoring roughly 3195 and 6GB of RAM represent the minimum threshold. For solid 60+ FPS performance at medium to high graphics settings, a mid-range GPU is recommended, and the game scales well across different performance tiers, so you can chase higher FPS on better hardware without issues.
With a respectable 76/100 rating and enduring popularity, Apex Legends is worth playing if you enjoy competitive shooters and character-driven gameplay. The free-to-play model means there's no barrier to jumping in and testing whether its blend of legend abilities and gunplay clicks for you.
Performance profile
February 2019 release. Apex Legends was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
Apex Legends is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Apex Legends; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
A WORLD WHERE ANYTHING GOES The Frontier War is over. After hundreds of years of conflict between the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation and the Militia founded to fight them, the far-off region of space known as the Frontier can finally know peace. But liberation can come at a cost: when the IMC and the Militia departed, they took everything of value and left the Frontier worlds in disarray. With no way to support themselves, the people of the Frontier had no choice but to leave their homes. The brave relocated to the Outlands. A remote cluster of planets on the fringes of the Frontier, the Outlands are untouched by war and teeming with resources and opportunity. But life is cheap here, and danger lurks around every corner. Its pioneers, explorers, and outlaws used to spend their lives locked in an endless power struggle – now, they settle their differences in the Apex Games, a bloodsport where Legends from all corners of the Frontier compete for money, fame, and glory.
