About

Astrogon is a dynamic action indie game released in 2020 that challenges players to jump and dash through a vibrant world filled with walls and obstacles. With an engaging mechanic that involves touching different colored orbs to gain unique abilities, players must tactically navigate levels to reach the teleport portal. The game's fast-paced gameplay and strategic elements make it a notable title in the indie gaming scene.

When it comes to PC performance, Astrogon is quite accessible, boasting a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level model with a score of around 800. Players with systems equipped with 4 GB RAM can expect decent FPS even on lower graphics settings, making it suitable for a wide range of gaming rigs. To achieve smoother performance, a dedicated GPU from the entry to mid-range tier is recommended, ensuring an enjoyable gaming experience without demanding high-end specifications.

If you enjoy fast-paced action games that encourage quick thinking and reflexes, Astrogon is definitely worth a try. With its unique mechanics and positive reviews from the indie gaming community, it offers a refreshing challenge that will keep you engaged and entertained.

Performance profile

Released in November 2020, Astrogon targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

Action titles like Astrogon reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.

Extremely light — Astrogon runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

A self-taught French developer, A.K.A Thorsen, had a revelation during a dream. Geometric shapes, space, stars, a circle, and a cube appeared to him that leaps from wall to wall and from obstacle to obstacle, in a dream so strange, that he must have woken up in the middle of at night to take notes, draw up Astrogon's first sketches, with the odd feeling and certainty that this was his next craziest project. At the time he had this dream, Thorsen, the “dreamer developer”, was developing “Infinity Land”: a retro arcade game, inspired by Mario maker, with a creative mode and a particularly rich and promising universe.
