About
Battlefield V (2018) brings the World War 2 setting back to the beloved franchise with large-scale multiplayer mayhem and cinematic single-player War Stories. The game emphasizes squad-based teamwork across destructible environments and features expansive modes like Grand Operations and Combined Arms. With its focus on dynamic, all-out combat across diverse global locations, Battlefield V delivers the series' signature blend of action-packed gameplay.
Running Battlefield V requires modest but solid hardware by modern standards. You'll want at least an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 3428, paired with a CPU scoring approximately 6089, and 8 GB of RAM minimum. Mid-range GPUs handle this game comfortably at 1080p with high graphics settings, delivering smooth FPS performance. For 1440p or maxed-out visuals, a stronger GPU will improve frame rates significantly, though the game remains accessible across various performance tiers.
If you enjoy multiplayer shooters with destructible environments and historical settings, Battlefield V is worth considering despite its modest 71/100 rating. The cooperative and competitive options provide solid replay value for squad-focused players.
Performance profile
November 2018 release. Battlefield V was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.
Action titles like Battlefield V reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Battlefield V; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
Battlefield V tells its stories through a series of standalone War Stories set across different fronts of World War II. In occupied Norway, a young woman named Solveig fights to rescue her mother Astrid, a resistance fighter captured while helping British commandos sabotage a German heavy water facility tied to nuclear research. In North Africa, a convicted bank robber named Billy Bridger is conscripted into the Special Boat Service alongside the stern George Mason, tasked with destroying German airfields behind enemy lines. In southern France, a young Senegalese soldier named Deme Cisse joins his older brother Idrissa as part of the colonial Tirailleurs sent to help liberate France, only to face discrimination from the very army they serve. A fourth story follows Peter Muller, a veteran German Tiger tank commander defending the city of Cologne in the war's final days, as his crew fractures under impossible orders to fight to the death while American forces close in around them.
