About
Bayonetta is a stylish action game from 2009 that puts you in control of a powerful witch battling hordes of angelic enemies in fast-paced combat encounters. The game is known for its outlandish finishing moves performed with balletic grace, delivering pure, unadulterated action with magnificent over-the-top set pieces. It's a standout title in the action genre that prioritizes fluid combat and spectacle above all else.
Running Bayonetta is quite accessible for modern systems, as it only requires an entry-level GPU with a minimum score around 3934 to hit playable framerates. The game scales well across different hardware configurations, making it easy to achieve solid FPS performance even on budget graphics cards. With just 4 GB of RAM required, this is one of those older benchmarks that won't stress your PC, allowing most players to run it at high settings without issues.
If you enjoy action-heavy gameplay with high style, Bayonetta is absolutely worth playing. Its 82/100 rating reflects a genuinely engaging experience that has held up reasonably well over the years, especially for fans of character-driven action games.
Performance profile
October 2009 release. Bayonetta targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.
Bayonetta is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Bayonetta; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.
Storyline
Bayonetta is a witch, having woken up 20 years ago from a casket in the bottom of a secluded lake. In an effort to uncover the truth of her forgotten past, Bayonetta travels to the holy city of Vigrid in Europe, the ancestral home of the Lumen Sages, worshippers of light, and the Umbra Witches, followers of darkness. As she is pitted against a seemingly endless army of angels, including another Umbra Witch named Jeanne, she follows a mysterious voice and is accompanied by suave journalist Luka Redgrave, as well as young and innocent Cereza, whose mysterious appearance may be connected to the mystery behind her lost memories.
