About
"Dead of Darkness," released in 2025, is a captivating 2D survival-horror action-adventure game that thrusts players into the eerie setting of Velvet Island while they investigate a chilling missing persons case. With its blend of grotesque creatures, deadly traps, and intricate puzzles, the game challenges players to survive and uncover the island's dark secrets, making it a notable entry in the indie gaming scene.
From a performance standpoint, "Dead of Darkness" is quite accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 235 and a CPU score of approximately 313. To achieve smooth FPS, players could consider GPUs in the budget tier, such as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 550, while ensuring they have at least 2 GB of RAM. This level of hardware allows users to enjoy the game at moderate graphics settings without significant performance hiccups.
With its compelling narrative and engaging gameplay mechanics, it's hard not to recommend "Dead of Darkness" for fans of the survival-horror genre. If you appreciate games that combine investigation, tension, and the need for strategic survival, you're likely to enjoy this title.
Performance profile
January 2025 release. As a current-generation title, Dead of Darkness pushes modern hardware — expect to need an RTX 40-series or RX 7000-series GPU to enjoy it at native 4K Ultra without leaning on upscaling.
Dead of Darkness is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.
Extremely light — Dead of Darkness runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
England, 1985. Private investigator Miles Windham is asked to help the local police on a missing persons investigation on Velvet Island. But once he arrives on the island, he soon realizes that the residents are behaving strangely. Nobody seems to be interested in clearing up the case. In fact, there is a growing hostility towards the investigator that feels as though it is becoming stronger by the minute. It doesn't take long until the situation escalates and Miles finds himself in a struggle for his own survival.
