About

Far: Lone Sails is a unique vehicle adventure game released in 2018 that combines action and exploration in an indie package. You pilot a distinctive vessel across a dried-out seabed filled with the remnants of a lost civilization, managing its systems while navigating environmental hazards and obstacles. The game's atmospheric setting and vehicle maintenance mechanics set it apart from typical adventure titles.

Far: Lone Sails is extremely accessible from a PC performance standpoint, making it ideal for budget gaming rigs and laptops. Even entry-level GPUs with benchmark scores around 554 can handle the game comfortably, and you'll see solid FPS performance on minimal hardware. With just 4 GB of RAM and modest CPU requirements, this is one of those indie titles that prioritizes accessibility over demanding graphics, so you won't need to worry about GPU bottlenecks or tweaking graphics settings extensively.

With a respectable 76/100 rating, Far: Lone Sails is worth playing if you enjoy atmospheric indie adventures and unique gameplay mechanics. The low system requirements mean virtually any PC gamer can experience this creative journey without hardware concerns.

Performance profile

May 2018 release. Far: Lone Sails was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.

Far: Lone Sails is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.

Extremely light — Far: Lone Sails runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Under cloud-strewn skies, the player travels across a seemingly endless dried-up sea, littered with the remains of a once vibrant seafaring civilization. The game’s world is largely devoid of life, yet filled with places to explore and history to discover. What once was the bottom of an ocean, has turned into a graveyard for submarines and super tankers. Once bustling island settlements have decayed into hilltop ruins. What secrets do they hold? And more importantly… is there any salvage to be found?! While the greater goal of the journey remains to be uncovered by the player, urgent short-term necessities call for immediate action. The train-like vehicle needs to be fueled, maintained and upgraded to master the challenges that lie ahead. After the character dressed in a red outfit, stumbles upon the mysterious machine, he traverses the dried-up seabed. During this journey you incounter various puzzles blocking your progress through the seabed. Some of these puzzles also add a new module to the machine. These include; a sail, fire extinguisher, welder and automated waste catcher.
