About
"Grand Theft Auto IV," released in 2008, is an iconic action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North. As the eleventh entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, it transports players to the sprawling metropolis of Liberty City, where they take on the role of Niko Bellic. This title combines elements of adventure, racing, and shooting, offering a rich narrative and immersive open-world gameplay that set new standards in the gaming industry.
When it comes to PC performance, "Grand Theft Auto IV" is relatively accessible, requiring a minimum GPU that scores around 137, which means even entry-level graphics cards can handle it. Gamers can expect a reasonable FPS on modest hardware, although upgrading to a mid-tier GPU can enhance the graphics settings and overall experience. For optimal performance, newer GPUs are recommended to achieve smoother gameplay at higher frame rates, especially for those looking to fully explore the game's detailed environments.
With an impressive rating of 84/100, "Grand Theft Auto IV" is highly recommended for fans of adventure and action shooters. Its engaging storyline and open-world mechanics ensure that players will find countless hours of enjoyment, making it a worthwhile addition to any PC gamer's library.
Performance profile
April 2008 release. Grand Theft Auto IV targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.
Grand Theft Auto IV is latency-sensitive: a high refresh-rate monitor (144 Hz+) and consistent 1% low framerate matter more than raw averages. Aim for a GPU that delivers 20–30% more headroom than the "just 60 FPS" tier to keep frame pacing smooth during intense fights.
Extremely light — Grand Theft Auto IV runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
Grand Theft Auto IV follows the story of Niko Bellic, a veteran of an unnamed war in Eastern Europe, who is haunted by the betrayal of his 15 man army unit. Ten years later, after a smuggling run goes bad due to a betrayal from a partner, Niko leaves Eastern Europe to escape the anger of his employer, Ray Bulgarin. After six months in the merchant navy (serving aboard the cargo ship the Platypus), and believing the stories of his cousin Roman, Niko comes to Liberty City to pursue the American Dream as well as searching for the traitor of his unit. After his arrival, however, Niko quickly learns that Roman's tales of riches and luxury were lies concealing struggles with gambling debts and loansharks, and that Roman lives in a dirty apartment rather than a mansion.
