About
GTFO is a challenging 4-player cooperative action-horror game released in 2021 that forces teams of scavengers to delve into a monster-infested underground complex. You'll need to work together to gather weapons, tools, and resources while uncovering the mystery of your past and finding an escape route. The game's blend of intense combat and puzzle-solving makes it stand out in the cooperative shooter genre, earning a solid 75/100 rating for its demanding gameplay and atmospheric design.
GTFO is moderately demanding, requiring at least an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 3902 and 8GB of RAM as the minimum specification. For smooth FPS performance at 1080p with decent graphics settings, a mid-range GPU will deliver solid results, while higher-end cards enable better frame rates at higher resolutions. The game's performance scales reasonably well, so checking detailed GPU benchmarks for your specific hardware will help you estimate FPS and adjust graphical settings accordingly.
GTFO is worth playing if you enjoy hardcore cooperative experiences and don't mind a brutal difficulty curve. The tight teamwork requirement and atmospheric horror elements create memorable moments that casual players might find frustrating, but dedicated groups will find plenty to love.
Performance profile
Released in December 2021, GTFO targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.
Action titles like GTFO reward high framerates for visual clarity during combat. A mid-range modern GPU at 1440p 60–120 FPS is the practical sweet spot; VRR (G-Sync/FreeSync) smooths out drops during heavy effects.
Extremely light — GTFO runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.
Storyline
Imprisoned in Hydrostasis, four prisoners are commanded by an unknown entity only know as The Warden to descend into a dark, abandoned underground complex to complete certain tasks for it and come out alive. The complex has been overrun by heinous monsters given the name of Sleepers, which the prisoners will have to deal with in order to complete their job. However, as the prisoners descend time and time again to complete objectives, they will learn more about the world, The Warden, themselves, that they are not alone and that there could be a way out.
