About

Hotshot Racing (2020) is a blisteringly fast arcade-style racing game that emphasizes drift handling, retro visuals, and exhilarating speed over realistic simulation. The game fuses tight controls with a striking pixel-art aesthetic that gives it instant visual appeal. It's perfect for players who want responsive, skill-based racing rather than sim-racing complexity.

The game is very accessible from a performance perspective, making it ideal for budget gaming setups. You'll need an entry-level GPU with a benchmark score around 4470 and a CPU scoring approximately 4228 to hit the minimum requirements. Most modern integrated graphics and budget discrete GPUs will deliver smooth 60+ FPS at 1080p, even at higher graphics settings, so Hotshot Racing won't stress your hardware or demand frequent GPU upgrades.

With a solid 71/100 rating, Hotshot Racing offers genuine fun for arcade racing fans seeking fast-paced drifting action. If you enjoy retro aesthetics and responsive gameplay over graphical fidelity, it's absolutely worth your time and delivers excellent value as a lightweight benchmark title.

Performance profile

Released in September 2020, Hotshot Racing targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

Racing games like Hotshot Racing are latency-critical — input-to-screen responsiveness is everything. Target a locked 60 FPS minimum (ideally 120 FPS on a high-refresh display) with VSync off or G-Sync/FreeSync active.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Hotshot Racing; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

16 racing circuits provide the twists, turns and straights conducive to searingly quick racing. Take in coastal, jungle, alpine and Las Vegas desert environments, with each course modelled with the most vivid colours and blue skies for miles. Time Trial and Grand Prix modes cater to those who like to compete in classic racing formats, while ‘Cops and Robbers’ and ‘Drive or Explode’ modes offer exhilarating new ways to play. Each mode is available in single-player, four-player split-screen and eight-player online, while Time Trial is single-player only. Single-player modes run at a blistering 60FPS to deliver one of the fastest depictions of racing possible.
