About

Howling Village: Echoes, released in 2020, is an engaging indie adventure and puzzle game that immerses players in a haunting world filled with menacing ghosts. As you explore every corner of the eerie village, the challenge lies in solving mysteries to escape these supernatural threats and uncover the ultimate true ending. The atmospheric graphics and intriguing storyline make it a notable entry in the indie gaming scene.

When it comes to PC performance, Howling Village: Echoes is relatively accessible, requiring only an entry-level GPU with a minimum score of around 300. To enjoy smooth gameplay at reasonable FPS, players should aim for a setup with at least 4 GB of RAM and a CPU score of approximately 2274. For a more polished experience, investing in a mid-range GPU can help enhance the graphics settings, leading to improved performance and overall immersion in the game.

Should you play it? If you're a fan of adventure and puzzle genres, Howling Village: Echoes has received positive reviews that reflect its compelling gameplay and atmospheric experience. With its unique storytelling and ability to challenge players, this game is undoubtedly worth exploring for any indie game enthusiast.

Performance profile

Released in August 2020, Howling Village: Echoes targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

Howling Village: Echoes is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.

Extremely light — Howling Village: Echoes runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

“Have you heard of Inunaki village? It's a cursed village that doesn't appear on any map. If you dare to go there, you'll never make it out alive!” Legend has it that on the other side of the real-world location of Inunaki Tunnel in Kyushu lies the most evil haunted spot in Japan—a village where the law doesn't apply, from which no one who enters ever comes back. Is Inunaki village an urban myth? Or... is it real? When her younger brother goes missing, Kaede has no choice but to put her faith in the myth. But while searching for him at the old Inunaki tunnel, she stumbles on a web of terror that defies belief. Six different people each have their own reasons for daring to set foot in Inunaki village. But there are some places you just shouldn't go, when the horrors of Inunaki village won't rest...
