About

In Sound Mind (2021) is a first-person psychological horror game that stands out for its imaginative approach to the genre. The game combines frenetic puzzle-solving with creative boss fights, all wrapped in an unsettling journey through the human mind. With an 85/100 rating, it's earned recognition for its original soundtrack and atmospheric storytelling that keeps players engaged throughout its campaign.

From a performance perspective, In Sound Mind is quite accessible on modern PC hardware. The minimum GPU requirement sits around an entry-level tier with a benchmark score of approximately 4765, making it playable on budget graphics cards without demanding top-tier specifications. You can expect solid FPS performance on mid-range GPUs even at higher graphics settings, with the game scaling well across different performance tiers and resolution targets.

If you enjoy psychological horror with puzzle-driven gameplay and aren't looking for a hardware-intensive experience, In Sound Mind is worth playing. The combination of its strong critical reception and reasonable system requirements makes it an excellent choice for both performance-focused and casual PC gamers alike.

Performance profile

Released in September 2021, In Sound Mind targets RTX 20/30-series and RX 6000-era hardware. A current mid-range GPU (RTX 4060 Ti / RX 7700 XT) is the sweet spot for 1440p Ultra; 4K needs a high-end card.

In Sound Mind is latency-sensitive: a high refresh-rate monitor (144 Hz+) and consistent 1% low framerate matter more than raw averages. Aim for a GPU that delivers 20–30% more headroom than the "just 60 FPS" tier to keep frame pacing smooth during intense fights.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in In Sound Mind; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

As you awake in the corridors of an inexplicable building, you find the environment takes on a life of its own and leads you to discover a series of victims, all exposed to the same experimental chemical. In your search for answers, bizarre visions emerge and introduce a host of imposing horrors… and a cat named Tonia. Unexpect the expected. Explore an imaginative and disorienting narrative, featuring sentient mannequins, a feline companion, and much more. And yes, you can pet the cat.
