About

"Kursk," released in 2018, is an adventure and survival game that immerses players in the tragic story of a submarine disaster. This indie simulator combines first-person action with a rich narrative, offering a unique perspective on historical events. Its emphasis on story and atmosphere makes it notable within its genre, appealing to those who appreciate carefully crafted experiences.

When it comes to PC performance, "Kursk" is relatively accessible. With a minimum GPU requirement of an entry-level graphics card and at least 8 GB of RAM, players can expect decent FPS even on modest hardware. For optimal performance, particularly at higher graphics settings, a GPU with a benchmark score above 5364 is recommended. This ensures a smoother gameplay experience, allowing players to focus on the story without technical distractions.

Considering its rating of 40/100, "Kursk" may not be for everyone, particularly those who prioritize high-quality gameplay and graphics. However, if you're a fan of narrative-driven adventures and can overlook some rough edges, it might still offer an engaging experience worth exploring.

Performance profile

November 2018 release. Kursk was built around the GTX 10-series / RX Vega era. Current-gen mid-range cards (RTX 4060 / RX 7600) are overkill at 1080p and handle 1440p Ultra comfortably.

Simulation titles like Kursk are heavily CPU-dependent — physics, AI and world state dominate the frame budget. Prioritise a CPU with strong single-thread performance and fast RAM over raw GPU power.

Entry-level hardware target. A GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT reaches 60 FPS at 1080p Medium in Kursk; an RTX 4060 comfortably sustains 1440p Ultra. 4K Ultra 60 FPS needs an RTX 4070 or better.

Storyline

On August 12, 2000, K-141 Kursk, a Russian nuclear submarine, sinks to the bottom of the Barents Sea. All 118 crew members are later found dead. The exact cause of the disaster still remains unknown.
