About

Mad Father is a 2012 horror-puzzle adventure game that puts you in the shoes of Aya Drevis, a young German girl uncovering dark mysteries within her family home. The indie title combines atmospheric storytelling with puzzle-solving mechanics and genuinely unsettling moments, earning a solid 80/100 rating for its unique blend of horror and narrative-driven gameplay.

From a performance standpoint, Mad Father is extremely accessible on modern PC hardware. The game requires only 1 GB of RAM and runs comfortably on integrated graphics, meaning even older GPUs will handle it without breaking a sweat. You'll easily achieve 60+ FPS on practically any gaming rig, and the benchmark results won't stress your system—this is a great title if you're testing performance on budget hardware or older machines.

If you appreciate indie horror games with strong storytelling and don't mind retro-style graphics, Mad Father is absolutely worth your time. Its atmospheric puzzle design and compelling narrative make it a standout title in the adventure-horror genre, despite its humble hardware requirements.

Performance profile

December 2012 release. Mad Father targets mid-2000s-to-early-2010s hardware — any modern entry-level GPU (GTX 1650 tier or newer integrated graphics) handles it at 1080p Ultra without breaking a sweat.

Mad Father is a narrative-driven experience — a rock-solid 60 FPS is plenty. Prioritise resolution and image quality (AA, anisotropic filtering) over chasing high-refresh framerates.

Extremely light — Mad Father runs at 60 FPS 1080p on any integrated GPU (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Graphics) or a decade-old discrete card like the GTX 1050. A current-gen RTX 4060 pushes 4K Ultra without effort.

Storyline

Aya lives in a secluded mansion with her father Alfred (also known as Doctor) and his assistant Maria. Her mother, Monika, passed away a year ago from an unknown illness. One night on the eve of the anniversary of her mother's death Aya is awakened by her father's scream, only to find her home riddled with walking corpses and other supernatural things. Determined to save her father, she must now face the true nature of his work.
